Nongstoin College was established in 1978 and is a co-educational college located inNongstoin, Meghalaya. This affiliated college with an area of 15 acres established under section 12 AA provides a wide number of various undergraduate courses. This college is recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and is a popular educational institution in Northeast part of India. The college has a total student enrolment of 1,996, qualified faculty of 52 academic staff allowing for the right environment for academic and personal together development. The institution has 16 courses in 5 degree programmes in Arts, Commerce and Science streams.

Nongstoin College has subscribed to a number of facilities that are aimed at improving on the learning process. It is also good that students have different hostels for male and female students, especially for those who travel long distances. The extensive library collection is adequate for academic learning and research projects forming a part of a knowledge centre. The college offers different sporting amenities in order to improve the physical activities and teamwork. It also has fully-equipped modern laboratories which are necessary in the practical aspects of the teaching and  learning of science. In order to bring itself to be on par with the modern technology, Nongstoin College has made investments in good information technology making it easier to carry out computer aided learning and studies. Health centre with first aids is also present to allow the college to be safe for all its community.

Nongstoin College provides undergraduate courses and has a total strength of sixteen full time courses in Arts, Commerce and Science. The college offers business degrees at both the normal and the honors levels, offering different programmes that teach general knowledge and skills alongside specialised knowledge in a certain area of specialisation.

The admission policy followed at Nongstoin College is deliberately one of open recruitment and merit. Any person who intends to study is supposed to apply together with all relevant academic records and documents. As for the various entrance tests, no examinations are specified but the college relies on the marks scored in the qualifying examinations (10+2 or similar). Various programmes available for students include BA, B.Sc, B.Com and different honors programmes in Geography, Sociology, Education, Economics, History, Political Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, and Computer Science.
