Established in the year 2003, NRI Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (NIPS), one of the leading education foreign institutions situated at Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh. NIPS was set up in 1994 on a 25–acre campus and has made a distinct presence in the field of pharma education. PCI approved Institute has list of pharmaceutical programmes to offer for 492 students enroled at the institute. NIPS currently has 38 highly qualified and committed faculty members to facilitate quality education for all students, keeping the student:faculty ratio relatively small for best results. The excellence is best seen in the fact that the institute offers a rich variety of courses such as the Bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Pharmacy, and Diploma courses in Pharmacy.
NIPS has some of the best facilities to support learning, given below. The current institute is equipped with high-end laboratories intended to offer practical aspects of pharmaceutical sciences. The library which forms an integral part of academic and research modules has a collection of more than 8000 books and access to many national as well as international journals. It is also provides online journals for the students especially helpful for the M.Pharm students who are involved in research activities. Other IT facilities of the institute are computer centre with more than 60 computer with internet facilities to support the digital library and research. A number of student services are also offered including separate hostels for boys n and girls, a health centre with first aid, a gym and games facilities.
There are four distinct pharmaceutical courses the institute has to offer and they are distinctive based on the education levels and goals of the students. These are a conventional four year Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma) programme with one hundred seats, a two year Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharma) with sixty seats and two post graduate specialised courses of two years each in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical chemistry leading to a Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharma). All these programmes are full- time, on-campus, which are aimed at possessing broad theoretical knowledge and practical skills in pharmaceutical sciences. Hence B.Pharma programme which has larger intake serves as the flagship programme for creating human resource requirement for various fields of pharmaceutical industry, research and health care sector.
For entering the NIPS, the admission is reported to be based on merit and students are not required to take any entrance examination, nevertheless, no more details were given regarding entrance examination or criteria of selection. The institute may consider the scores or grades obtained in the qualifying examinations, as well as its own entrance test, or scores obtained in national level tests for entrance into pharmacy.
