A college that provides accommodating education to the needy students, Oriental College Imphal started in 1963 is situated at Khuraijam Leikai, Takyel, Imphal West, Manipur. NAAC accredited college with multiple courses in different fields and specialisation being offered at the undergraduate level. Oriental College is functioning from a campus area of 7.5 acres and has a total student strength of 1330 and a faculty strength of 73. The institute offers 20 courses under five degrees Fashion Institute offers courses in Arts & Science. At the college level, the gender distribution is fairly close – with 52% male students and 48% females, although the principal stated that the college targets students within the state.
Additional facilities provided at Oriental College include variety of services easing student’s everyday life. The students accommodate in different separate hostels for boys and girls with maximum strength of 24 and 36 respectively. Sports lovers will find benefits in a large playground for outdoor games, an indoor hall for games such as badminton and tennis and a well equipped modern swimming pool. Degree wise Admission Process

B.Sc Courses: B.Sc (Bachelor of Science) courses with honors streams in Botany, Zoology, Anthropology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics are also provided by the college. Admission to B.Sc Semester I is done through the same process as for BA courses, taking into account the merit of the Class XII results and the potential performance in an entrance test.
B.Voc Courses: Oriental College also offers Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) in Information Technology, Fashion Technology, Aquaculture (Fisheries), and Tourism and Hospitality Management.
Each program also has a predetermined intake strength, ranging from 30 to 60 seats for various honors programs. The B.Sc Botany Honors and B.Sc Zoology Honors programs, for instance, each have an approved intake of 60 students.
Currently on my 2nd year taking Zoology honours…about the infrastructure it has smart classes, practical labs, canteen, library, a playground, seminar room , an auditorium and a swimming pool . Overall good.
