Post Graduate Extension Centre, Dharmapuri, was established in 2012 under the aegis of Periyar University, Dharmapuri. At the Post Graduate Extension Centre, Dharmapuri, students have the opportunity to pursue a diverse range of courses across various disciplines. In consonance with its mission statement “Arrival Vilaiyum Ulagu” it is committed in promoting an intellectual climate through artistic creation and innovative ideation.

PGEC Dharmapuri is affiliated with Periyar University, Salem. Admissions into postgraduate programmes are given based on the merit of the last qualifying examination. Doctoral admissions are given based on scores acquired by the students in the entrance examinations. Students with  UGC-NET, SET, UGC-CSIR (NET), GATE, Teacher Fellowship holders, and M.Phil. degree holders are exempted from the exam.
