PET Polytechnic College, Tirunelveli: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

PET polytechnic college is an affiliated college which started in 2008 and is situated in, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Affiliated to All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, this institution comprises of diploma courses in various fields of engineering. With a land area of 12.65 acres , PET Polytechnic College has student strength 889 and faculty 51 strength. Currently the college offers six diploma courses in various engineering disciplines in order to suit the needs of the aspiring technician or engineers.

PET polytechnic college is aware of its duty of ensuring it offers a well rounded college to the learners. It provides myriad amenities for custodial and discretionary educational and personal growth functions. The 35,000 sq. ft. library has a book and 55 title strength of 17, 902 and abbreviated dailies and weeklies in both Tamil and English. In provision of accommodational needs for the students, the college has well furnished hostel for both male and female students which comes with additional facilities like TV hall, reading hall and dining hall. Modern practical training labs, a canteen with different types of foods and agronomical facilities for sports with significance to cultural and teamwork values also exists on the campus. Besides, the college operates a transportation system, through buses, which operates from different places around the institution for day scholars.

Currently, PET Polytechnic College has the following six full-time diploma courses and all of them take three years to complete. These courses cover various engineering fields so that students may select huge number of course to register for;- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering , Diploma in Civil Engineering and Diploma in Automobile Engineering etc. The total approved intake for all courses combined is 330 student per year. Although the total enrolment for the latest year has not been shared, the ISO has equal enrolment as that of its intake capacity of 889 students for all the years of study.

In this respect, the process of admitting fresh students at PET Polytechnic College is made as easy as possible. The general requirement for a number of diploma courses is the minimum pass in 10th Standard (SSLC) or equivalent. The college also has limited provision for the lateral entry for some courses for example Diploma in Electrical Electronics Engineering entry requirements on this course includes Higher Secondary Academic pass in Mathematics, Vocational course in Engineering, Pure Science and ITI 10+2 NCVT) respectively. It is not clear when the exams are given, however, intending students are urged to visit the college portal or write to the admission department for update on admission requirements and time table. The SATs put emphasis on Technical Education in respect of course structure, teaching aids and infrastructural facilities the college has, making it a reasonable choice for students who wish to peruse Diploma level Engineering Education in the Tirunelveli region.
