Phaltan Education Society’s College of Agriculture, Phaltan is recognized institution situated in Satara district of Maharashtra started its journey in 2009 as specialized college of agriculture. Established in 1947, it is the oldest college located in a 145 acres of land and has a concentrated course in agricultural sciences. The enrolment of the institute is a total of 522 students and with a faculty of 27 members which are quite suitable for agricultural education. At the moment, only one degree programme is offered in the college, namely – B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons), the college has a sanctioned strength of 120 students only to maintain the quality of education in the fields of agriculture and related sectors. 


An exemplary facility is the competency of the college to have physical structures that complement the learning process of students. Currently the library is fairly-endowed with set of textbooks, reference books, and agricultural magazines to enable the students get adequate materials for study. The college has functional departmental Laboratories to provide better practical knowledge and skills among students. The campus also cares for students welfare having different hostels for boys and girls who intend to stay within the compound for accommodation to be provided for them. In an effort towards a balanced development, the college has provided for play fields and a gym for students’ body building. Contemporary learning processes have been facilitated through modern IT infrastructure and students & staff are provided their required diets in a canteen. Olso the college provides transport facilities, health center with first aid facilities and a guest house for faculty and family members. 


The college offers B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) which is a full-time, NAASIC accredited four years course aiming at building up competencies in the agricultural sciences. This programme remains the flagship of the collegiate, conveying 120 seats for individuals interested in agricultural pursuits. The curriculum of the course may include crop science, soil, agricultural economics, and contemporary methods of farming making students qualified to join the agricultural realm.


The college accepts admission mainly through Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) In addition, It recruits faculties and staff members through the government recruitment process. This is a state level written examination for which the students willing to take up B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) course are to write this test and the result of which happens to be the primary basis for admission into the college. The admission process of college is as per the timetable of state authority and mostly is in the session of Maharashtra Agricultural Universities. I was unable to find particular information regarding the scholarship; however, the college can provide different kinds of financial aids for learners who deserve a good education in the sphere of agriculture. Phaltan Education Society’s College of Agriculture at Phaltan is a focused institution dedicated to the agricultural education. The college boasts of its well equipped facilities, that offers specialized curriculum, and which is focused on providing a strong practical foundation in order to produce skilled human resource to the agricultural industry. This is especially so if agriculture is still a crucial component of India’s economy today for these institutions act as pioneers of the future farming and food production in India.
