Pithubar Girls Degree College, Khowang was established in the year 1989. This is one of the affiliated girls' colleges under the Assam region of India. The campus area of the institute covers a small portion of 4.81 acres, and it provides education to 345 students with the support of 21 faculty members. It provides only one degree course and imparts quality education to the young girls of the locality.

Besides making it possible for all-round development, the institution offers manifold facilities that facilitate enrichment in the process of learning. The students will have a well-stocked library as the hub of knowledge; it would meet all types of academic pursuits. The institution understands well the importance of technology in contemporary education and has ensured first-class IT infrastructure for furthering teaching-learning activities. The college also provides sports facilities and a gym for the development of physical fitness and recreation. There is a playground and an auditorium to provide for various events, seminars, and other programs that go a long way in developing a dynamic, rigorous academic and cultural atmosphere within the campus. 

Presently, Pithubar Girls Degree College offers only one full-time course, which is a degree Bachelor of Arts. Really a liberal arts education, it is an undergraduate degree. This undergraduate degree will let one wander across all disciplines of humanities and social sciences, it being three years-wide.
