The Plastic Waste Management Centre, Guwahati, was established in the year 1999 as a specialised institution for education and research in plastic technology. Located on a sprawling campus of 7.85 acres at Borgaon, Banglagarh, under the Hajo Circle of the district of Kamrup, Assam, this institute offers three full-time courses related to plastic technology at both postgraduate and diploma levels. With a total student enrolment of 389 and a faculty strength of 4, the focused learning environment so provided places this centre in a unique educational destination in the region for its commitment to the cause of fighting back the challenges posed by plastic waste management.
The Plastic Waste Management Centre has a variety of facilities that help increase its students' learning experiences. The College Library accommodates a fairly large collection of about 2,200 books on Polymers, Manufacturing, and related subjects. It is well-equipped with the latest technological gadgets, including RFID tags for book management. At the institute level, outdoor and indoor sports facilities are available to balance the routine with study and other physical activities. Nutritional needs are met by a centralised cafeteria that meets the requirements of the students through a variety of food items that are delicious and hygienic. The various laboratories in the college are well equipped with modern machinery and equipment to enable students to have practical experience with state-of-the-art industry technology.
There are three courses of specialisation, all full-time programs. These courses include a Postgraduate Diploma in Plastics Processing and Testing, a Diploma in Plastics Mould Technology, and a Diploma in Plastics Technology. All programs have an approved intake of 60 each, hence totaling to 180 seats available. All the courses in this category give the students complete knowledge and practice for all-round capacity building, especially regarding rapid change within the plastics industries.

Diploma in Plastics Mould Technology: The diploma program also contains 60 seats. The admissions are done on the basis of the CIPET JEE. The applicants have to meet the eligibility requirements under the CIPET Admission Procedure.
Diploma in Plastics Technology: 60 intakes of students; the procedure is the same as in the other diplomas. Suitable applicants will be admitted based on the scores of CIPET JEE and must adhere to CIPET Admission Procedure guidelines.
