PGSPGCPE PattiLa is one of the famous colleges in the field of physical education, and we have Prof.Gursewak Singh as the education head. This is a co educational college situated in Punjabi Bagh, Patiala, Punjab and which was founded in the year 1958. The college is a self financing affiliated college recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Stretched across 25 acre land, PGSPGCPE consists of a wide variety of physical education programmes. The college offers general education to its total admission of 470 and has a faculty of 5 ensures adequate training for students interested in physical education.

Prof. Gursewak Singh Government College of Physical Education has state of the art facilities to support its programmes and students organizations as will be seen below. They are over 25 playgrounds that are recognized by NCTE such as ast generates for 400 meter athletic track, badminton, basketball, volley ball with all other related games like hockey, kabaddi, softball etc.. For gymnastic, weightlifting, wrestling, table tennis, Yoga and Judo, there are independent indoor facilities. Reflecting on the college’s onerous thrust to provide all rounded development, facilities such as the anatomy, physiology, psychology, physiotherapy, biomechanics, and kinanthropometry laboratories are immensely equipped. Equipped with current Information Technology infrastructure in the form of Computer Laboratory helps students remain in tune with technologies being developed. The college possesses modern library that contain 17354 books; Reference:1365, Encyclopedia:68 besides journals, magazines & newspapers. Both male and female students prefer to live in different hostel facilities where those groups who prefer living on campus are well accommodated. The colligate dispensary manned by a full time doctor with a complements of paramedical staff always bolster the health of students.

PGSPGCPE provides five courses of Physical Education and all these three courses are full time Courses. These include a Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed), Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed), and Diploma in Physical Education. The B.P.Ed programme has an approved enrolment of 100 students; and the M.P.Ed programme enrolls forty students at a go. The importance of physical education to the college is realised through its specialised courses in areas such as sports coaching, physical education teaching and professional levels.

Prof. Gursewak Singh Government College of Physical Education has merit scheme admission policies with regards to marks obtained in qualifying examinations and entrance tests. For the M.P.Ed programme, candidate shall be selected on the merit earned in the qualifying examination and entrance examination or any other method as per norms laid by state government, central government or university. Likewise, in the case of B.P.Ed admissions, two factors are considered which include marks from qualifying and/or entrance examination and strictly as per government norms of the state and the particular university. There is also a solid alumni base: the college cares about the relationship between learners and graduates who have built careers in physical education. Concerning the money related issues, although the details on the scholarships are not given its government affiliation makes one think there could be cases of scholarships for some of the intending students.
