Rajas Dental College and Hospital Kavalkinaru (RDCAHK) is a renowned dental college that started in 1987. This affiliated college is in the city of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu. The college occupies a land space of 30 acres and has been awarded accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI), RDCAHK has a total student capacity of 494 and faculty with 145 members. Institute A provides 8 courses offered in 2 different degree programmes, all of which focus on different subfields of dentistry. As for the enrollment ratio, 22% of the RDCAHK’s students are male, while 78% are female at the undergraduate level.

The college has many facilities to meet the students’ needs as well as to enhance students’ achievement and development. Accommodation We have separate hostels for boys and girls with all amenities within the hostel and the hostels also include well-managed mess facilities. Currently, RDCAHK provides a total of 8 courses, of which students can pursue an undergraduate and postgraduate programme. The premier five-and-a-half-year undergraduate program is the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program, which has a total intake capacity of 100. In its postgraduate programme, the college has the following specializations of Master of Dental Surgery (M.D.S.): prosthetics and crown and bridge, conservative dentistry, endodontics, periodontology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics, oral and maxillofacial pathology and microbiology, and oral medicine and radiology. These postgraduate courses have comparatively small intakes and may include only 1-3 students per specialisation. All programs are full-time; none of the courses are part-time ones, which gives the students a concentrated dental education.

The entry requirement to RDCAHK depends on national entrance tests for higher education institutions. The BDS programme for admissions is regulated by the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) conducted by the National Board of Examinations. Like PG admissions, the NEET-MDS governs admissions to MDS programmes as well, which has replaced the MDS common entrance test previously existing in the country. For the purpose of enrolment in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the competent authority provides counseling. 

RDCAHK also provides scholarships; 42 undergraduates and 2 postgraduate students have been reimbursed for the year 2022.
