Raniganj Institute of Information Technology was established in the year 2001 as an affiliated college at Raniganj, West Bengal. The college campus is situated in Raniganj, sprawling over 4 acres, providing a dedicated learning atmosphere to its students. At present, the student enrolment is 200, and it has a teaching staff of 9 dedicated professionals. The Institute specializes in undergraduate education; it runs two full-time degree courses, Bachelor of Computer Applications and Bachelor of Business Administration.

RIIT focuses on providing students with an all-around educational experience and, therefore, avails them the following facilities that aid their learning and all-round development: a highly stocked and furnished library. The institute also believes in practical learning, and for this purpose, it has a state-of-the-art, fully air-conditioned computer laboratory. This laboratory is adequately supported by 1:1 computer-to-student ratio, duly supported by laboratory assistants and faculty members who help students in conducting their practical work. For those students who need accommodation, RIIT has boys' and girls' hostel facilities that provide a comfortable living environment outside the home environment. It has many facilities that extend the learning process beyond the classrooms, such as sports amenities, an auditorium for events and seminars, and Wi-Fi connectivity across the campus. 

Academically, RIIT college has emphasized only two distinct subjects at the graduation level. The course of study under the curriculum of a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Business Administration. Both programs are full-time, three-year degree courses designed with the objective of preparing students for the current market needs of the IT and business worlds.

The admission process in RIIT considers academic performance in 10+2 or any equivalent examination under consideration.
