Rayat and Bahra College of Engineering and Biotechnology for Women, Mohali, was established on 2001 as one of the premier women engineering college to empower women through technical education. This all female college is located in village of Sahauran near city of Kharar in Mohali district of Punjab state and offers latest academic streams in various engineering streams. It has 64 members of faculty and aims at offering quality education and nurturing young women engineers and technologists of the future.
Rayat and Bahra College of Engineering and Biotechnology for Women campus is a centre for a number of facilities that are meant to improve the learning process in the college. The library is an important source of academic content and contains more than 5000 books and 2000 titles and subscribes to national as well as international journals. It is automated and is connected to DELNET, giving the students their wide choice of 1,400 online journals. The college provides well developed laboratories such as chemistry lab and a special communication skills lab with modern language software and multimedia apparatus. In order to meet the needs of its students, the college offers accommodation facilities within its compound and includes two girls’ hostels for this purpose and each hostel includes activity centres, common rooms and dining hall. The campus also provides facilities such as canteen and medical centre, as well as store that provides daily use products.
Four full time B.Tech programmes are offered at Rayat and Bahra College of Engineering and Biotechnology for Women each of four years. These include B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication engineering, Information Technology and Electronics and Computer engineering. The distribution of the seats according to the streams is, Computer Science and Engineering – 120 Electronics and Communication Engineering – 120 Information Technology – 60 Electronics and Computer Engineering – 60.
