One among the premier institutions in Ayurveda is the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Fundamental Research, Pune. This affiliated college was established in the heart of Pune, Maharashtra, over 19.5 acres in 1961. For over six decades now, RAIFR has remained at the forefront in Ayurveda research and education and, therefore, occupies a very significant position in the preservation and further development of this age-old healing system. 

Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Fundamental Research has a dignified array of facilities that would carry out its academic and research programmes. The institute's library is one of the richest in itself, having more than 1,650 books and journals. This huge collection shall definitely meet the requirements of researchers working in multidisciplinary fields and scientists/medical professionals working with interest in research studies related to medicinal plants and Ayurvedic drugs. At present, RAIFR offers a Ph.D. in Pharmacology, showing its serious commitment to advanced research in Ayurveda. This full-time doctoral course shall span six years and is aimed at giving the students very deep knowledge of pharmacological principles within the Ayurvedic framework.
