Royal College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Berhampur was inaugurated in 2003 and is one of the leading pharmacy colleges. This affiliated college is in Odisha spread over an area of 2.506 acres NAAC accredited college. It is an AICTE and PCI approved institute which provides the programmes in the field of pharmacy. The college currently has 534 students and 44 faculty members and offers 6 courses at 3 degree levels. The student body comprises 86% undergraduates and 14% postgraduates, with a gender ratio of 3:1 (male to female). The college also have less outstation students, only 3% of the students belong to other states particularly Odisha.
They have availed all sorts of facilities in Royal College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to meet the needs of the student’s learning. The library and the reading room have both printed and electronic materials with Internet browsing facility for research and enhanced study. To support this, there are 12 laboratories for B.Pharm and 4 labs and 4 research labs for M.Pharm programmes each of 75 to 85 sq.metres. The college also has air-conditioned Computer with eighty computers in it and broadband internet facilities. There are many sports facilities available for students’ playing facilities such as chess, badminton, volley ball, cricket etc. Continental has separate hostel facilities for the male and female students and therefore providing comfort for out station students. A canteen as well as an auditorium for occasions and broadcasts adds to the campus environment.
These six courses all are full time courses offered by the Royal College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. These include one undergraduate programme (B.Pharma), one diploma programme (D.Pharma), and four post graduate programme (M.Pharma with specification of Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Microbiology). The total approved intake for all the courses is 211 places. Although, the graduation data of the current year is missing, the college’s concern for the quality education in pharmacy is confirmed by its courses and equipment.
For all programmes at Royal College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, the admission process differs from one programme to the other. In B.Pharma admissions, candidates are admitted through the OJEE rank, JEE Main ranks or NEET counselling. For M.Pharma courses there is GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) or PGAT (Post Graduation Admission Test), for which there is counselling as well. Admission to D.Pharma is done through a central online application to the Odisha State Board of Pharmacy, then counselling. As per the government norms there management seats and NRI quota seats are also available in the college. Though specific scholarship information is not available we see that the college thrives on continual alumni engagement of the students with other graduates. This institution having a good infrastructure tha including various pharmaceutical machinery that help you to gain a pratical knowledge which make you to better understand your study also have a good campus.
The infrastructure of this college was quite decent for any student to study. It has a academic building. That includes all proper oriented classrooms. The laboratories were quite big enough . Also has library for students to study and as all minimum required books.
Yes the campus have everything that is related to studies like a well organised library and well maintained labs with necessary equipments. The college and hostel campus is very hygienic. But the campus doesn't have any cafeteria and no Playing space for girls in hostel campus and the sports are only played during annual sports.
