The Rural Institute of Ayurved Research Center and Hospital, Satara, was established in the year 2004 and is one of the premier Ayurvedic educational institutions in the state of Maharashtra in India. The college is located in a beautiful town named Mayani, which is spread over an area of 30 acres. This course has been approved by the central council for Indian medicine (CCIM), and the college offers only one degree course in BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery). With an enrolment of 248 students in total and a faculty strength of 17.
The The Rural Institute of Ayurved Research Center and Hospital is well-equipped with some facilities that contribute to enhancing the learning environment and the overall well-being of the students. There are separate hostels for boys and girls that are provided with all modern facilities and kept to high standards of hygiene. The hostel rooms are shared between 2-3 students able and have facilities of attached baths, further supported by common mess facilities. The library provided in the institute has been regarded as the 'Soul' of the college, depicting a source or powerhouse of knowledge by having numerous textbooks, reference books, and subscriptions to national and international journals. It also allows unlimited internet, printing, and audio-video facilities. The college has its own departmental laboratories, which is quite an indispensable facility for practical learning in Ayurveda.
The academic courses of the institute are therefore also based on the BAMS course, or, in expanded terms, Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. The whole course forms one of the degree courses offered by the institution and therefore places it as an institution of very high specialisation in Ayurvedic education.
