Sacred Heart Arts and Science College, Tindivanam: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

SHASC was started in 2017, it is a private college located in Perani, Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu. This is a co-educational institution which is affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University at Vellore and provides the undergraduate programs in art, science and commerce streams. Located on a 5,99085 square meters, SHASC has a total registration of 560 students and is characterized by a 100% women student. The college has 30 members of the faculty, and offers 6 programs for 4 academic courses. SHASC has the vision of quality education integrated with vocational education with a vision towards Human and Educational excellence.

As will be seen in the sections on programmes that follow, the college provides a variety of resources for students’ learning and development. There are well equipped laboratories one of them being the computer lab and this is augmented by the chemistry lab that enable students to develop their practical experience. This facility comprises an airy and well lit library containing textbooks, reference, magazines and journals that can support learning. SHASC is the society that offers cheap hostels for female students so that students who live outside town can feel at home. 

The college canteen provides varieties of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian articles served in clean environment. Extra curricular activities include a large auditorium for events and seminar and sports equipment for health and strength development for the students. It has founded infrastructure of computerized campus, which satisfies the students’ needs in the use of online sources. Moreover the college transport facilities, there is a guest room for visitors, and a health care center where anyone in need of medical services will be attended to.

Sacred Heart Arts and Science College provides a total of 6 full time undergraduate courses. Some of them comprise B.Sc; Computer Science, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics; B.Com; BA; Tamil, History; and BBA. All courses take three years and are offered full time. The college admits 310 students in total for all study programs and has 560 students at the college at present. This shows a tendency of a growing number of students from the time it was established. Full-time, regular programs form the main intake of the college and nothing about part-time or online courses could be retrieved from the available records.

Sacred Heart Arts and Science College uses the admission process based on the result of the tests and examinations for all its programs. However, no particular dates have been laid down for the admission and therefore, all students are encouraged to visit their college websites or, better still, make a call to the admission offices for any current information regarding the admission and application schedules. Unlike most other colleges which state the exams that candidates sit for to gain admission, the college does not indicate any set entrance exams. Currently, SHASC provides scholarships to the learners with evidence showing that 9 undergraduate learners obtained reimbursements from that organisation in the academic year 2022. 

There is the Career Guidance and Placement Cell in SHASC that helps learners find jobs or choose a career path, but data on placement have not been determined. As is the reflection of the management vision to support rural education for women, 100% of the students enrolled are female and 99.6% comes from the rural areas of Tamil Nadu state.
