Sankaradeva Mahavidyalaya, Lakhimpur, was established in 1982 as an affiliated college in Assam, India. This co-educational institution is situated in the Lakhimpur district and extends over a vast 19.66-acre campus. The college conducts various undergraduate courses, constituting essentially the Arts and Humanities stream. Having a total enrolment of 506 students and a faculty strength of 22, Sankaradeva Mahavidyalaya offers sufficient opportunities for academic pursuit. This is well-reflected in the structure of 10 courses across 2 degree programmes, with a specialty in the Arts stream. 

The facilities that are found in Sankaradeva Mahavidyalaya make up to provide  fulfilling environment for the learning experience of the students. The B.K Saikia Memorial Library is the stronghold for academic resources; it has more than 14,850 books, and there are also several periodicals, journals, and newspapers in the library. Students can borrow a maximum of three books at one time, though special privilege is available to financially backward students under the Book Bank scheme. It has a well-furnished girls' hostel facility with a multi-utility gymnasium and an auditorium having an auditorium capacity of 1000 people. Indoor and outdoor sports facilities are also available within its sports complex, with the arrangement of sports or other physical activities for students.

Sankaradeva Mahavidyalaya offers a wide range of undergraduate courses in Arts stream. The institution has ten full-time courses in all under the degree of Bachelor of Arts. The total approved intakes are different for different courses. These courses include general B.A. programmes and specialised majors in Education, Political Science, Assamese, Sociology, Geography, Economics, English, History, and Hindi. Among them, the general B.A. programme is highest with an intakes of 400.

Admission at Sankaradeva Mahavidyalaya is strictly merit-based on their previous results from their previous university. The performance of prospective students is evaluated based on the results of the qualifying examination, which is usually 10+2 or equivalent.
