Savitri Devi Mahila Mahavidyalaya was established in 2015. It is the women's educational institution under the University of Lucknow, and the affiliated college is located in Powayan, Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It has the potential to deliver quality education to female students. The institute is further approved by the National Council for Teacher Education, NCTE with an intent to pursue high standards of education. In this connection, the college offers different courses tailored for undergraduate degrees; thus, the student is given an opportunity to explore multiple interests ranging from the sciences, humanities, social sciences, and communication skills. Savitri Devi Mahila Mahavidyalaya offers a total of four full-time undergraduate courses that cater to a wide range of academic interests. Some of the undergraduate programmes are BA, B. Com, B.Sc and B.Ed. All these programmes in their field provide quite rewarding education and offer well-rounded preparation for further academic studies or professional life. In the case of the B.Ed programme, it has an approved intake of 100 seats; this reflects the commitment of the college in providing quality teacher education. Though there are no explicit numbers of total student enrollment and graduation rates for these programmes, emphasis on these core undergraduate programmes does show this college is keen on proper education in the most elementary disciplines of study. 

Admission of students is done considering various courses. The admissions at the college for the B. Ed programme are strictly merit-based-including marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination, as prevailing policies at the state government level/U.T. Administration/university level have established. So, an admissions procedure fair and transparent prevails at the college. Other undergraduate programmes, like BA, B. Com, and B. Sc, give little detail on the admission procedure and may also be thought to be merit-based.
