The School of Law, DAVV, imparts a holistic approach to understanding legal education with courses at different levels of education and four specialisations that makes it a well sought after centre for lawyers.

Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya School of Law has proclaimed that it has excellent facilities to provide state of art facilities for its students. The institute collaboratively runs a library with more than three thousand law books and ten national law journals subscribed. The IT facilities are also commendable: a computer class is equipped with modern computing equipment and connection to the Internet, students have available a wide range of up-to-date materials. One of them is moot court which prepares students for real-life practice, as they got the chance to participate in the trial within a trial. The institute also has fairly well hostel facilities for boys as well as girls in separate hostel with adequate facilities so that students can concentrate on their studies fully. There is provision for sporting activities as this encourages students to embrace exercises and healthy lifestyles.

Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya currently provides a total of four courses and all of the courses are full time courses. Such programmes include the three-year undergraduate programme (BA LLB Hons), Twoyears post graduate programme (LLM & M.Phil Law) and doctorate programme (Ph.D Law). The BA LLB Hons programme has a total intake of sixty students, while The LLM has a capacity of thirty five students and the M.Phil Law has a capacity of ten students. The Ph.D. Law programme’s admission is inconsistent depending on the opportunities in the research proposal. These programmes are integrated for students in different levels of their study of the law, from those who are looking for an introduction to these studies up to those in the postgraduate level in search for authoritative research on certain areas of law.

Admission process in the School of Law, DAVV, is aimed towards choosing the best students to enroll for its courses. For the BA LLB Hons and LLM programmes, admissions are carried out through CET, as mentioned earlier and abides by CET rules. This makes some sense to prevent offering numerous scholarships to a particular institution thus making the competition for the scholarships unfair. Admission to the M.Phil Law and Ph.D. Law is different; the university holds an entrance exam for the programmes. This style of setting and solving papers is quite helpful to the institute because it helps to determine the abilities of the candidates in research, as well as their understanding of the course at an advanced level.

It is also important to note that prospective students can both, online, download an application form and or, acquire a hard copy of the same together with appropriate requirements of personal information and documents. Regarding exact dates for the exams mentioned above the concerned candidates are advised to keep visiting the official website of the institute regularly for any latest updates on admission schedule ad process etc. The School of Law, DAVV, is aspiring to produce efficient legal professionals and it holds the record of hundreds of its passed out students who are today working in different legal professions across the country but due to unavailability of data, it’s difficult to have a glance on those were house stars.
