Gandhinagar, Gujarat, is home to one of the constituent institutions of the School of Liberal Studies-Pandit Deendayal Energy University. Ever since its establishment in the year 2009, SLS has grown to become one of the significant institutions in the liberal arts education system of the country. The School provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs within the domains of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Management. It has a faculty strength of 121, making it formidable in giving the students a robust academic environment.

SLS has an excellent range of facilities to support student learning and development. It stands at the heart of a well-equipped library that extensively makes use of information technology so that it may provide its users with the best resources available. Modern sports facilities on campus encourage students to balance their academic study with healthy physical activities. SLS also says that laboratories, workshops, and IT infrastructure are maintained. The institute offers a total of 30 courses in six degree levels - from the bachelor to the doctoral level programmes.

At the undergraduate level, the courses it provides include BA (Hons.) in English, Mass Communication, Psychology, Economics and International Relations, and BBA in Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Finance. The postgraduate level courses provided by SLS include MAs in Psychology, Public Administration, Political Science and International Relations, English, Economics, and Mass Communication. The school provides Ph.D. courses in a wide range of disciplines like Economics, English, Public Policy and Administration, and Business Administration.

The admission at SLS is purely on merit; criteria for the selection differ in different programmes. Undergraduate admissions generally take place based on total marks during the selection process. This commonly aggregates marks at 12th standard and marks in the entrance examination.
