SCS Autonomous College, Puri was established in 1944 under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The college was initially started in the building of Puri Zilla School. The college was named after Mahamohopadhyaya Chandra Sekhar Singh Samanta, who was an Odishan Astro-scientist. The college was initially started with the motive of providing education to students in Economics, History, Mathematics, Logic and Sanskrit as optional subjects and English and Odia as compulsory Modern Indian Language. But later, many other undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were also started. Samanta Chandra Sekhara Autonomous College lies over an area of 27 acres of land providing various academic and infrastructural facilities to the students and faculty members including laboratories, sports, gymnasium, hostels, canteen, central library etc.

Samanta Chandra Sekhara Autonomous College is located in Chandan Hajuri Road, Puri, Odisha. The nearest airport from the institute is the Bhubaneswar Airport which is located 58.7 km away and students can reach the campus in approximately 1 hour 20 mins. The nearest railway station from SCS Autonomous College, Puri is the Puri Railway Station which is 1.3 km away and students can reach the campus in approximately 5 mins.

Clubs, Committees & Societies:-

• NSS- National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Youth Programme which is established under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Students have also conducted various programmes under this scheme including international yoga day, blood donation, leprosy campaign, swachh bharat, literary campaign, mass cleaning, mass tree plantation, road traffic awareness, polio vaccine, disaster management, PFMS training etc. to spread awareness among the common people.

• NCC- N.C.C has been formed inside SCS Autonomous College, Puri to show the importance of living a disciplined life among students which also helps them contribute their part towards the development of the country. The students of the N.C.C group also take part in various other activities including Para Sailing, Gliding, Para dropping, Training Camps, National Integration Camps, Rock climbing and Mountaineering activities Boat Pulling/Sailing and Ship Modelling etc.

• Red Cross Society- The vision of the Red Cross Society is to become a leading humanitarian organization serving vulnerable people. The members of the club regularly take part in the various events and promote humanitarian services in society.
