Seshadripuram Institute of Commerce and Management, Bangalore: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Seshadripuram Institute of Commerce & Management (SICM) started in the year 2005 is seated in Bengaluru city in the state of Karnataka. NAAC accredited affiliated college and popular for specific and limited number of undergraduate courses in commerce and management fields. SICM occupies a small plot of 0.559 acres and has 891 students, among which 59% are males, and 41% are females. The institute is manned by a catalogue of 30 members of faculty staff and the institute enjoys a students per teaching staff ratio. SICM has only two degree programs and both of them are full time programs in BBA and B.Com.

This innovatively designed institute takes pride in extending a number of facilities to supplement the students’ learning experience. The well stocked library has a collection of over 10000 books and 55 national and international journals providing a good Share of academic publications. The technical piece of SICM is evidenced by its well computerized and automated library system. 

Internet connected computers in a college’s computer laboratory provide practical experience in business studies by closing the theoretical –practical knowledge divide. For sporting people, SICM has well-developed amenities such as a gym to people in school and besides, offering student accommodation to its students and staff. 

There is also a 200 seater seminar hall that is conveniently used for academic and cultural related activities in the college. Female students who wish to accommodate themselves on campus however, donot have the privilege of hostel facilities but there is a host namely Seshadripuram First Grade College. Another facility on the campus is a canteen which has attracted the attention of the students and the public as a whole and which provides South Indian delicacies and snacks in clean and hygienically approved premises.

The academic programs offered in SICM are relevant to the dynamic business environment currently in the globe. The institute provides two full-time undergraduate courses: Three year degree programs namely the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com). These programs aim at preparing the students to the world-market place by imparting knowledge and skills that are relevant in business. Though, it is not easy to state the number of students who intakes per course, the total intake is 891 for all programs. Such an approach helps to preserve high levels of education in SICM, as well as give more attention to each learner.

The admission process at SICM is easy and manned with student friendly admission officials who ensure that students understand the admission procedures as they present themselves for admission. It is not clear whether the institute specify the minimum standard in the entrance test but knowing the institute, performance in 10+2 or its equivalent examination is probably the most important factor for admission. 

This is well illustrated in the scholarship programs wherein SICM avails financial supports and from data obtained in 2021 revealed that only 897 students out of which 23 made reimbursement. This is to show the effort in place by the institute to ensure that quality education is afforded to deserving students. The college also supports close linkages with the regional population; among the 8,813 students enrolled, 8,556 or 97% of these are from Karnataka. 

This directs initiative towards a specific locality which helps develop a proud feeling among the locals and at the same time helps develop very close relations with industry players in the region. Unfortunately, detailed information regarding individual alumni cannot be provided, however, examining the history of the institute that offers master’s programmes for only 18 years, it can be surely stated that the number of graduates who successfully establish themselves in different fields of the economy is constantly increasing.
