Established in the year 1980, S.G. Government Degree College, Chittoor, is one of the major colleges in this region situated at Piler, Andhra Pradesh. It is a co-educational college affiliated to S.V. University offering numerous undergraduate and post-graduate programmes under the various faculties. Located over 8.48 acres, the college has an enrolment of 591 students in 7 different courses and a faculty of 37 members each. With 21 courses across 7 different degrees to offer, SG Government Degree College ensures that a wide spectrum of academic interest is catered for, providing the best learning atmosphere to ensure the brightness among students coming from varied backgrounds.

There are a total of 18 full-time courses at the undergraduate level and 3 courses at the postgraduate level. The total approved intake of the college courses is 591 students of all the divisions. Some of the popular undergraduate courses include B.Com Computer Applications, B.Sc in Science Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, and Arts course in History, Economics, and Political Science. The college offers postgraduate degrees in M.Com, M.Sc Computer Science, and M.Sc Organic Chemistry.

The mode of admission at CON organised by SG Government Degree College is primarily merit-based, following the guidelines of S.V. College Section. In a more elaborate section, the level of examination qualifications of the potential students for the college is evaluated.
