Shanti Alya Institute of Education & Training is an affiliated college which was established in 2004 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. This women’s institution affiliated with the university established under section 3 of the University Grant Commission act, 1956 and approved by NCTE under section 22, 23 of NCTE act 1993 offers the teacher education programmes. With a land area limited to 2.7 acres, the institute provides two full-time programmes with a total student capacity of 141. The faculty list includes 9 devoted teachers, which allows maintaining relatively low student-teacher ratio. Mission of Shanti Alya Institute is to impart quality education in teaching, thus producing qualified specialist to face the complexities of teaching profession.

Shanti Alya Institute of Education and Training has got various structures that will facilitate the learning ability of the students. The institutions maintains a well equipped library with a collection of about 5,764 books, six magazines, four newspapers and ten journals in support of academic endeavor. Language Laboratory, Science Laboratory, Mathematics Laboratory, Social Science Laboratory, Educational Technology Laboratory and Psychology Laboratory are available for the practical sessions. Among the campus facilities is a girls hostel with accommodation for over sixty students, a hostel mess, gym and cable connected television. Recreation and physical fitness facilities consist of a large playground for out door games such us basketball, badminton, and volleyball games and indoor sporting amenities. They also have their transport facilities, bus facility for local Ttansport and the institute has access to local transport to make it easier for the students.

Shanti Alya Institute of Education and Training has given two full time courses from the field of education. The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme which is a newly introduced course has been given an intake capacity of fifty students, and the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). These two programmes have been structured to take two years of study in order to equip the candidates with the right knowledge and skills. There is also clear indication that the institute is wielding focus on teacher education because most of their courses are packaged with a view to preparing individuals to teach in the increasing demand institutions in the region.

Candidates seeking admission in any of the courses offered at Shanti Alya Institute of Education and Training are admitted based on their performance in the qualifying examination, or entrance examination depending on which is applicable. For the B.ED programme, the admission process is done according to the rules and regulation laid by the state government UT administration and university to which oh affiliated. Likewise, the admission to D.El.Ed programme is according to the norms of State Government or UT Administration.
