The Ayurvedic Medical College affiliated to Shri JG Co-operative Hospital Society is established at Belgaum, Karnataka, India in the year 1996 is one of the renowned institution imparting education in Ayurveda in Karnataka. This affiliated college is situated in Ghataprabha Gokak and is approved by Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM). The institute, which is located on a 3-acres of land, with various 11 courses in three different degree programmes for both undergraduate and post graduate students. It expanded a total student intake of 330 and a faculty of 36 to ensure that the ratio of student and teacher is in proportion for effective reach and quality teaching.
Ayurvedic Medical College has all the necessary resources to provide a comfortable learning environment for students. Currently, there are over 20000 treatises and diverse journals related to Ayurveda and modern medicine, besides having a computerised library with RGUHS Helinet project. Sophisticated laboratory facilities along with conducive environments within, are equipped with diagnostic tools like X- ray, ECG, USG, EEG etc. There are different hostels for male and female students; 37 rooms house 116 boys and 22 rooms for 78 girls. It also boasts of a gymnasium, an auditorium, a cafeteria, and sporting facilities making up the college campus.
The courses offered in Shri JG Co-operative Hospital Society ‘s Ayurvedic Medical College include the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery BAMS, Post Graduate studies, and other courses as below. There are 60 sanctioned seats for intake of students I BAMS while each post graduate course has 5 seats only. The college offers full time courses in Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana, Swasthavritta, Rog Nidan, Dravyaguna, Kayachikitsa, MS Shalya Tantra, Shalakya Tantra, Prasuti Tantra and Stri Roga, Kaumarbhrtiya and Panchakarma as the domains of Ayurveda cover a wide arena.
Shri JG Co-operative Hospital Society’s Ayurvedic Medical College has certain criterion to follow before giving admission to the students; the foremost one is NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) given by the National Testing Agency – Government of India(Introduction). For the BAMS programme , candidates were allowed to take an admission thru NEET examination. They are to be finalised and finalised through a fair & standard procedure as per the rules in force at the time of admission. The college relies on NEET scores for its different programmes as per the national standards in the medical field. As for the admission dates, there is no fixed date shown, but the potential students should follow the NEET exam dates together with the counseling. The institution offers a holistic approach to Ayurvedic learning through a vast syllable and infrastructural mapping that ensures Ayurveda professional student employability.
