Marathi and 2007;Shri Shankar Arts and Commerce College, Navalgund, located in Dharwad district of Karnatak is established in 1970. This affiliated college with a land area of 39 acres of land was established over five decades ago, and has continued to serve educationally to the greater community. Small but aspiring institution credited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), students of the college prove their worth. Consequently, out of 375 student-intake, the faculty size is 9 and as such, the academic experience is individualistic. The college currently offers two major courses for undergraduates, in Arts and Commerce, to address all the students’ learning needs.
Academics: Shri Shankar Arts and Commerce College has some of the following facilities to improve student hood experiences. Girls’ Hostel – females students are accorded safe, clean, and comfortable living spaces in female hostels to optimize their study time. The Gymnasium and sports facility with fan for Volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, throw ball, tennikoit, cricket etc help the students to become physically fit and to develop the spirit of games. The college library is a bibliographic store house where a plethora of books and information is located The library is particularly stocked up with competitive examination related books. On average, 150 students pass through the library per day and 200 books borrowed on the average. To support the commitment of the institution for academic resources, it has invested over Rs. 11 lakh in the last 5 years to develop the library collection.
Shri Shankar Arts and Commerce College offers three full-time programmes: BA, BCA, and B.Com. Namely, both programmes have three-year duration, offering the students a profound preparation in their chosen directions. The total student enrollment at the college is 375 and herein the importance of keeping the college porch small enough in order to make student faculty ratio achievable. It is however difficult to quantify the number of students who graduate from this college given its long standing record is indicative of quality output of professionals.
Shri Shankar Arts and Commerce College has developed admission procedures as smooth as possible and easy for students to follow. In a similar manner as before, details regarding particular entrance examinations or scholarships cannot be ascertained; however, the college has embraced the education landscape by providing Poor Students Lending Library to enable learners of grey financial background to borrow text books.
