Shri Vishwa Mitter Sekhri College of Education, Batala, was established in the year 2003 and is proposed to impart teacher education in the Punjab region of India. It is a co-educational college at Plot No. 26-30 and occupies a 2.5 acre space. The institute has quality standards that make its quality education recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). As an affiliated college, it functions under approval of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), to maintain the quality standard of its teacher training programmes in the country.

Shri Vishwa Mitter Sekhri College of Education has many facilities which have been created to aid and improve student learning and education opportunities. A vast library for one’s books offers source of knowledge, and barbeque and recreational arenas for healthiness and team building. The institution has a good IT support in place in order to ensure students remain informed on technology advances in modern education. Shri Vishwa Mitter Sekhri College of Education provides two courses in education only which are full time in nature. The two-year B.Ed programme has the approved intake capacity of 100 students inter cluster. In addition, the college under take a two-year D.El.Ed course with a total intake of fifty students. These programmes are intended for preparation of individuals for a teaching career to be effective in their practice. The total enrolment on all courses now fetches a figure of 280 thus showing confirmation that the college is now full besides being popular. 

Shri Vishwa Mitter Sekhri College of Education admission procedure is simply on the basis of previous academic performance and/or entrance test. The college reserves the right on admission process and follows the norms provided by the state government of Punjab and the affiliated University. For the B.Ed programme, these assessment scores are used to admit the students with implementation of the state govt or UT administration guidelines to follow merit based admissions in D.El.Ed also.
