Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology or SIST Jorethang was founded in 2018 and it is an emerging college founded in South Sikkim. This co-educational institute is an affiliated college to AICTE India which provides technical education to those who are interested in making their career in engineering field. SIST has comfortably and strategically located and planned in the beauty of Chisopani which makes an environment of positive understanding. There is a total of 70 students intake and equal number of registrations for the classes hence make sure that the institute has a small class sizes in order to allow the teacher interact with each student.

Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology has numerous resources which are supposed to act as tools to make learning seamless for students. The college library is recognised as an important information resource centre acting to facilitate academic information resources for students. For the purpose of enhancing the practical learning, SIST has well equipped department based practical laboratory. In addition, this institute boasts of strong information technology resource which prepares the students with current trends in technology. The institute currently offers two full-time B.Tech programmes: Firstly, there is Civil Engineering and secondly , there is Computer Engineering. Each programme takes four years and is approved to admit 40 students, meaning there are 80 places for the two programmes combined. These programmes give the students the knowledge base they need in their fields of practice as they prepare for the stiff competition driven by the ever emerging technological frontiers. Having said that, being an institute of relatively recent  establishment,  more courses and greater enrolment  is on the recruitment vision for the ensuing years.
