Siliguri B Ed College, Darjeeling: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Established in 1989, Siliguri B.Ed. College emerged as one of the most prestigious education institutes in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Located beside the campus of North Bengal University, this affiliated college has shaped a large number of future teachers for more than three decades. The small campus, with a total area of 1.77 acres, is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education. With the total enrolment of 96 students and a faculty strength of 8, Siliguri B.Ed, the college provides a focused learning environment for the aspiring teachers. Siliguri B.Ed. College provides a number of facilities for all-round development of the learners.

Though this is a small library, the software system Koha has ensured good standards. It has an immensely stocked library with over 10,212 books on education and other subjects, including text books, reference books, and various journals. Again, within the college, there are laboratories for hands-on experience on specific departments. Others include indoor and outdoor sports and a gym for physical fitness. Other IT infrastructures consist of well-equipped computer laboratories with Internet facilities to always keep the students connected in this digital age. While the auditorium addresses the needs of events and seminars, the health centre with first-aid facilities takes care of the medical needs of the students. Also, the college has a guest house that put-ups visiting faculty and family members of the students. 

Siliguri B.Ed. This college offers only one main course, and that is the Bachelor of Education program. The course duration is two years on a full-time basis. The intake in the college has been sanctioned with 50 students for the proper student-teacher ratio to maintain quality education in the college.
