SM Patel College of Home Science, Anand, was established in the year 1971 as one of the prime institutes in the domain of home science education. Being a women's college, it is located in Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat, and is affiliated with Sardar Patel University. The college got accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. This college covers 2 acres, with a focused curriculum having one degree program that specializes in home science education. Having a total enrolment of 476 students with a faculty strength of 8, the SM Patel College provides an ideal setting for learning and development of the children.
The college has various facilities to make studying more enriching for its students. A well-stocked library has over 10,638 books covering the different departments, with 38 types of journals and periodicals. It has well-equipped, state-of-the-art laboratories, such as a chemistry laboratory, Family Resource Management Laboratory, Foods and Nutrition Laboratory, and a Textile and Clothing Laboratory, where students can undertake practical learning. The playground is spacious, and so is the gymnasium for physical fitness and recreation. SM Patel College of Home Science provides high-quality education in home science by conducting a B.Sc Home Science full-time course. It is a three-year undergraduate course wherein students are given detailed knowledge and skills for the various streams under home science. 

The admission process at SM Patel College of Home Science is designed to be merit-based. Basically, it is a girls' college where 100% of the students are women. Interestingly, it has a diversified student body wherein 99% come from within the state and a very small percentage from outside the state and country, therefore representing a rich cultural environment.
