Sourashtra College, Madurai, an autonomous institution that came into existence in the year 1967, is one of the most prestigious institution in Tamil Nadu, India. The college occupies a large area of 28.17 acre and was providing a number of courses to its 1,888 students taking admission in this college. Sourashtra College offer 31 courses across 12-degree programmes, thereby offering the student an all-round education. This is an institution with a strong faculty of 129 well-dedicated teachers to ensure the student-teacher ratio is Slovak. Recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and recognised by the All Indian Council for Technical Education, the college ensures quality of education. Out of the total targeted students, 85% are undergraduates and 15% are postgraduates; 66% are male and 34% are female students.
Various infrastructure facilities prove that Sourashtra College is dedicated to giving excellent infrastructure facilities for better learning of the students. The campus facilities include protective boys and girls hostels, which serve as living facilities for out station students. A computerised library with VHS, CD player and 4 multimedia projectors has 6teen sections adequately stocked with 61500 books and subscribes to 9 newspapers. Welfare: The college provides health services to its students through accreditation of an on-campus medical centre and emergency evacuation services.

Additional facilities include a sporting complex accommodating a gymnasium, an open-air court for tennis and other sporting disciplines, an amphitheatre for special functions such as events, seminars, and graduation ceremonies, well-equipped laboratory, and canteen that completes the complete student campus life. The college also has transportation facility 16 buses are operated for female students only so that they can also travel safely.
Sourashtra College is lined with various and elaborate Academic faculties. Among the 31 courses, 12 are full-time programmes ranging from undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The college offers a combination of conventional academic classes and modern courses such as B.Com., B.Sc. in subjects of interest, BBA, BCA, MBA, MCA and Ph.D. Total number of seats in all courses is 1,888 The major intakes are B.Com. comprising 64 and MBA Self-Finance comprising of 60. The institution is well developed in commerce and management education while possessing very solid science and humanities wings.
Most of the admissions to Sourashtra college are based on merit because the college takes into account the performance in the qualifying examinations. For postgraduate programmes like MBA, the college accepts scores from MAT, which is Management Aptitude Test and TANCET, which is the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test. The institution provides different scholarships to qualify students for different purposes. Last year, 1,116 undergraduate and 88 postgraduate students were paid over £5 million in financial reimbursements, following the college’s mission of ensuring affordability of education. College Infrastructure
The college is filled with up-to-date facilities and equipments with nature friendly infrastructure. Each Classrooms is installed with wifi and projectors. Library, laboratories and sport centers are well maintained with new equipments. Hostels also provide clean rooms and provide 3 day meals
