Sree Mookambika Institute of Dental Sciences of Kulasekharam is one of the branched dental college situated at Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu which commenced in the year 1999. This co-educational institute is situated on a 73 acres land and primarily aims at offering excellent dental education and health care services. Recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, New Delhi and recognised under the act of Dental Council of India, the institute was providing number of undergraduate and post graduate courses in the stream of dentistry. The students enrolment of the institute is 331 and faculty is 67 that make the ratio two and half students for each faculty member for better interaction and quality education.

Sree Mookambika Institute of Dental Sciences encompasses the large palette of infra facilities that aims at enriching the learning- teaching process and complementary well-being of the students. The library occupies the area of 2000 sq.ft and contains number of books, journals and digital resources, which are used to gain knowledge. What it provides a chance to find a quiet and quite comfortable place for learning in groups and separately. Those in the category of leisure, they can join the institute’s well-endowed sporting centres and a fine gym. The boys and girls of the college reside in their respective hostel facilities having single occupant fully furnished room with an in-built bathroom facility. Most of these hostels come and provided with services and facilities like having a buffet mess, electricity supply round the clock, unlimited water supply and games /recreation rooms so as to give the students a feel of home away from home.

Sree Mookambika Institute of Dental Sciences teaches a total of 8 courses which include 2 degree levels. The institute offers dental undergraduate and post graduate courses, which are all day curriculum programmes offered at the institute. The BDS is the flagship programme with an intake capacity of fifty students. At postgraduate level, the institute has following Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) such as Oral Medicine and Radiology, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology, Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridges, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Periodontology, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. 

The admission of the student in Sree Mookambika Institute of Dental Sciences is strictly followed the guidelines check and merit. In the BDS programme, the competitive entrance exams are the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test commonly referred to as NEET. Likewise, for the MDS programmes, the candidates have to pass the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDSpopularly known as NEET MDS.
