Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University, Regional Centre Koyilandy or SSUS RC Koyilandy is a premier institution which started in 1994 as one of the campus of the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady. It is a government undertaking and runs a school in Koyilandy, Kerala where knowledge in Sanskrit, other Indian and foreign languages, social sciences and fine arts can be obtained. SSUS-RCK is affiliated with UGC approved and the parent University has NAAC ‘A’ Grade accreditation to its credit. It teaches 11 courses across four levels of degrees: Bachelors, Masters M.Phil., and PhD in Sanskrit, Urdu, and Malayalam.

Being aware of these factors, the campus of SSUS-RCK consists of facilities that would enable students improve their learning abilities. The institution has hostels for both sexes offering accommodation and facilities such as water and electricity supply round the clock, study areas and shops. The institution offers 3 bachelors degree in Sanskrit out of which there are two specialisation areas namely Sahitya and Vedanta. For postgraduates, there are MA programmes in Sanskrit, Urdu, Malayalam and Hindi with optional specialisations in Sanskrit Sahitya and Vedanta. For the scholars interested in doing research, the centre provides M.Phil and Ph.D. especially, Ph.D. programme in Urdu. All of the courses are day courses and the spirit of the institution is to have intensive and exhaustive education in language and culture.

The admission requirements at SSUS-RCK are quite different depending on the degree programme of the student. Undergraduate programmes do not require special entrance exams, and the applicant’s performance in qualifying tests determines his/her probability of admission. Admissions for postgraduate and for the MA programme entail the candidate to write an examination administered by the said university. As for the M.Phil. and Ph.D. admissions, there is more often an entrance examination followed by an interview. These entrance examinations are taken at the university’s headquarters in Kalady. For the brilliant students the university grants them different scholarships and for the Ph.D. seekers, there are UGC-JRF Fellowships scholarship.
