Sri Sarada College of Physical Education for Women, Salem, was started in the year 1982 and is one of the pioneer institution for women’s physical education in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. This affiliated college is located in Fairlands, Salem and encompasses an area of 26.08 acres. Recognised by NCTE, the college provides specialisation in Physical Education and Physical Training. Thus, the institute has been intaking 90 students in total and has 10 faculty members, this makes it easier for the students to be attended to as well us receive quality trainings. Sri Sarada College of Physical Education for Women offers two full-time courses: A 3 year B.P.Ed programme and a 2year M.P.Ed programme for female students who want to pursue their carrier in physical education & sports only.

The college has technically equipped itself s by incorporating a number of poor facilities to complement its academic streams and the college experience for the students. An informative unit is the girls’ hostel which offers satisfactory accommodation for students who travel from far. The hostel provides large airy rooms with tube light and fans for proper living and ventilation is also provided. The principal acts as the warden and the superintends act as the caregivers to the residents so that the place feels more like a home. Sri Sarada Education Society has a well stocked sports library with most up to date literature and professional journal on physical education. In order to ensure the efficient use of these resources, the college organises information literacy sessions for first time in the semester and those students who need extra information can arrange individual meetings.

This college is funded and run by Sri Sarada Education Society and is exclusively for women dealing in two major courses. The B.P.Ed is a 3 yr full time programme with 100 admission capacity and M.P.Ed is a 2 yr full time programme with 100 admission capacity. The two programmes are to offer professional preparation in physical education by giving broad and intensive learning in the theory and practice of teaching, coaching, and sports administration.

The admission into Sri Sarada College of Physical Education for Women is also through meritorious list as guideline by the university and state government. The college conducts admission for the B.P.Ed and the M.P.Ed courses to students who meet the requirements set by the college through academic and physical fitness tests taken by the students aspiring for this course.
