The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University is associated with SRM College of Pharmacy Kattankulathur, which was founded in 1992. UGC declared the SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai comprising SRM Dental College, Ramapuram, Chennai as deemed to be a University under Sec. 3 of the UGC Act 1956. SRM College of Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, in Chennai and SRM Institute of Management and Technology, Modinagar, Delhi were brought under the ambit of SRMIST in the year 2005. In the year 2009, Chennai Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (CMCHRC) at Irungalur village, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu came into existence. The SRM IST College of Pharmacy Kattankulathur courses are B Pharm, M Pharm, and D Pharm. SRM IST College of Pharmacy Kattankulathur admissions to the B Pharm, M Pharm, and D Pharm programmes are granted based on the results of the SRMJEEE entrance test.
