About SSR College of Pharmacy, Sayli Silvassa

The affiliated college, Sayli Silvassa, SSR College of Pharmacy was setup in the year 2007 located in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, India. PCI and AICTE are the two official bodies which has accredited this institute. The college is located on a two and a half acre land and it has six courses spread across two degrees in different pharmaceutical disciplines. The total strength of the students is 332 and the faculty strength is 23, 6th floor, and 58% students belong to other states. In terms of gender distribution the institute has higher number of female students, 55% of the total students were in undergraduate programs and 53% in postgraduate programs.

The college offers learning and development of students through several facilities. This library is a comfortable and sunlit room that can seat 100 students and contains over 8600 books, 21 journals and other materials. For a more enabling practical training, the institute has well equipped laboratories in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical, Chemistry, Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy. 

These amenities include air conditioned computer labs with 30 operating Microsoft Window Server 2010 computers. This allows students to take advantage of having distinct boys and girls’ hostels, with security and Surveillance cameras always on to ensure safety, day and night. The college has also a health center with first aid facilities, a canteen facility and centrally air condition auditorium with a seating capacity of 240 nos for conducting various classes, seminar, workshops, meetings, cultural and co-curricular activities etc.

This pharmacy oriented university offers a total of 6 courses – 3 undergraduate and 2 postgraduate. B.Pharma is a four year full time program having an intake capacity of 60 students. At the postgraduate level, the college provides four specialized M.Pharma programs: pharmaceutics, pharmacology, quality assurance techniques and pharmacognosy. They are 2 year full time course and have variation in intake capacity. The total approved intake for all the courses is, 96 students. The total number of students that the college has registered for the most recent academic year was 332 students where 274 of them were Undergraduate learners while 58 of them were in postgraduate Studies.

It is important to point out that the admission requirements at SSR College of Pharmacy really depend on the program and the category of the candidates. As for the B.Pharma program, the college prefers MHT-CET as the criteria for the selection of students. The M.Pharma programs therefore comply with a two tier admission process. For Maharashtra State Candidature, thirty percent of seats shall be filled through the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra , from the merit of Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT). 

The rest of the 70 percent of the seats were All India Candidature and 15 percent Institutional Quota where the institute arranged according to the GPAT conducted by the government. GPAT and MHT-CET entrance examinations are practised most commonly for admissions to the college. On the aspect of Scholarships, the institute awarded scholarships to 19 Undergraduate and 8 Postgraduate students in academic year 2022 in view of offering assistance, where necessary to deserving students in their educational endeavors.

SSR College of Pharmacy, located in Sayli, Silvassa, is an affiliated college situated within the Dadra and Nagar Haveli region of India. The institute provides various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in pharmaceutical sciences. Admission at SSR College of Pharmacy is carried out to select the eligible candidate through different entrance exams, based on the student's program.

Generally, the college considers the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) as the main admission criterion for undergraduate students. The online application process regarding the MHT-CET usually starts in the last week of December to the second week of February.

For the postgraduate program, the admission process is based on GPAT score. GPAT is the national level entrance examination for admission into the M.Pharm. courses. The common eligibility criteria for B.Pharm usually comprise Indian students who have attended 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology. However, the M.Pharm eligibility criteria will include students who have completed their recognized B.Pharm degree from a recognized university.

Application Process

The application procedure against the program in SSR College of Pharmacy is different for the different courses:

B.Pharm:

1- Register for the MHT-CET exam at the official website.
2- Fill the application online with the other necessary details and pay the application fee.
3- Appear for the MHT-CET exam on the scheduled date.
4- After the announcement of the result, undertake the centralized admission procedure facilitated by state authorities.
5- If a seat in SSR College of Pharmacy is allotted, the candidate then reports to the college for verification of documents and other formalities for admission.

M.Pharm programs:

1- Registers and Appears for GPAT exam.
2- After the announcement of GPAT results, apply in SSR College of Pharmacy through the centralized admission for PG courses in Maharashtra.
3- For 30% Maharashtra State quota, applies through DTE, Maharashtra.
4-For 70% All India quota and 15% Institutional quota apply by the college or through the admission authority.
5- Attend the counseling session if listed.
6- If selected, the admission process is finalized by document submission and payment of fees.

Degree-wise Admission Process 

Admission for B.Pharm course will be based on the scorecard of MHT-CET entrance test for 60 students approved intake. This course takes a duration of 4 years.

M.Pharm: The different specializations in the M.Pharm programs are of two years' duration:

1. M.Pharm Pharmaceutics- 12 seats
2. M.Pharm Pharmacology- 06 seats
3. M.Pharm Quality Assurance Techniques- 12 seats
4. M.Pharm Pharmaceutical Chemistry- 06 seats
5. M.Pharm Pharmacognosy- 06 seats

The admission in all the M.Pharm programs is based on the GPAT score. The two-step admission process is:

  • The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra selects 30 % seats for Maharashtra State Candidature based on GPAT merit.
  • The remaining 70 % of seats shall be selected by All India Candidature and 15 % shall be under Institutional Quota based on the GPAT score.
