St. Michael Polytechnic College, Kalayarkoil, is one of the affiliated colleges, which emerged in the year 2008 in Sivagangai District of Tamil Nadu. The following is an AICTE recognised institution in India, which offers diploma courses in different branches of engineering. The college is located in an area of 5.09 acres; in total, the college has 49 faculty members & 337 students’ intake. St. Michael Polytechnic College offers five diploma courses under the single degree programme . Its mission is to deliver technical education to the students and provide them with necessary knowledge and practical experience required for successful career in the engineering discipline.

St. Michael Polytechnic College has acquired numerous infrastructural amenities that would facilitate achievement of the college and students’ visions. Currently the library boasts with 7818 books and with fifteen International journals on various disciplines in science, engineering and technology; humanities and social sciences. In this respect, the college has functional laboratories with appropriate equipment and essential tools and instruments. IT infrastructure is developed in terms of a computer laboratory equipped with highly configured systems and high-speed internet connectivity of 8 Mbps. St. Furnishing physical educational infrastructure, Michael Polytechnic College also has a different hostel accommodation for boys and girls.

St. Michael Polytechnic College provides five full time diploma courses in engineering stream, with total sanctioned strength of 270 students for all the programme. The programmes are Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering. Every of them is aimed at offering the students appropriate base in their sphere of interest.

The process of enrolments in St Michael Polytechnic College entails the qualification levels of the students accepting. The college does not give specific examination dates but performance is considered for placement into these diploma courses. The institute possesses its separate Training and Placement Cell responsible for ultimate career placement of its students. This cell offers special training for development of communication skills, aptitude tests, reasoning tests, Group Discussion, and on Mock Interviews to improve Employability for Students.

One of the major activities of St. Michael Polytechnic College is the promotion of faculty development through various activities some of which are NCC and NSS programmes.
