St. Thomas College of Nursing, Kottayam, is one of the well known nursing colleges started in the year 2002 and is situated at Chethipuzha, Kerala. This is a co-educational college which came into existence and affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences and has been approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). The college is located in a 3.6 acre land and it provides dedicated grounds where students pursuing health care can study. The college has 206 students and 25 faculty members which facilitate low student to teachers ratio makes sure to assure individual student attention and quality education at St. Thomas College of Nursing. As of now, the institution has established only two nursing programmes for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

St. Thomas College of Nursing has many facilities that are set to help in improving the learning ability as well as the values of the learners. The library which is a vital information sharing pole in learning institutions is well structured and large enough and is opens from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm on Sundays. Regarding the teaching practice, the college has departmental-based laboratories essential in practical training of nursing skills. The IT infrastructure is robust, featuring 22 computers with high-speed internet access, available from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, to learn in separate hostels for boys and girls, equipped with all parts of comfort in a home away from home. The college has provision for sports and games and a health facility with first aid for any accidental injuries. A multipurpose auditorium with 500 seating capacity for conferences, seminars and other purposes exist in the school. On this regard, in order to increase student comfort, the institution has provided transport facilities of a 50-seater bus and a 14-seater van.

St. Thomas College of Nursing has a specialised programme and has two full-time nursing courses. The four years undergraduate programme includes B.Sc Nursing which has 50 students intake. To the high level of specialisation, the college provides Master of Science in Medical Surgical Nursing and has 4 intake capacity for two years course. Both courses are intended to offer the biblical understanding of a nurse’s profession, as well as special training to become a professional nurse. The total of all students in the college is fifty four, though the college admits many students in the different study programmes, it has adopted a policy of limiting the number of students in a class to improve quality education.

The admission process in St. Thomas College of Nursing is to admit competent and motivated students to its nursing courses. The admission process may be relatively competitive for the B.Sc Nursing programme being the pioneer course compared to the admission process of the M.Sc programme.
