Sukanta Mahavidyalaya, Jalpaiguri was established in the year 1981. It is an affiliated college located in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. The institute offers 20 courses across 5 degrees, namely undergraduate programs. Spread across 10 acres, the campus has a total enrolment of 6,591 students, out of which 45% are male and 55% are female. It has a faculty strength of 30 members. 

The institution has a wide array of facilities to support students in their learning. One of the noticeable features of the library is that it has more or less fifty thousand books, which again comes to be one of the best among the colleges under the University of North Bengal. Students can get access to different national and international journals through Inflibnet, and 'Koha' software is used in the library for easy access to book searching. It also provides sports facilities with all types of equipment, well-mainted IT infrastructure, one auditorium for events and seminars, departmental laboratories, cafeteria facilities, guest rooms, and one gym. At the college level, maintenance is carried out with an active alumni association to build a strong network between past and present students.

Sukanta Mahavidyalaya offers, in total, 20 full-time undergraduate programs. The total approved intake of students in the institution's all courses put together is 5,205. Its undergraduate student population comprises 100% of the total student population since the college offers only UG programs.

The admission process to Sukanta Mahavidyalaya is based on merit, considering the performance of applicants in their Higher Secondary or any other equivalent examination. The academic records of the student applying for admission serve as the foundation for admission.
