SV Government Arts and Science College Palem was started in 1963 holds the torch of higher education in Nagarkurnool District of Telangana State, India. Situated in the picturesque village of Palem, this government established institution has been nurturing young talents for nearly 58 years. Affiliated to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the college is a self-financing institution, which can provide a variety of undergraduate courses. It occupies a 5-acre campus, and it has a active students’ population of 257 as at now, whereby 54% are female students, and 46% are male students. College has a well dedicated teaching staff of fifteen members catering all six courses and two degree programmes with quality education.

SV Government Arts and Science College  boasts of a full-facility provision for the improvement of learning for its students in all spheres of education. A resourceful library is an essential asset in the student’s academic arsenal; thus the availability of academic material cannot be overemphasised. The institution also has a gym and sports grounds which show that the- institution promotes the physical well-being of its students in as much as it is devoted to meetings the educational needs of its students. As for students who plan to become scientists, the college contains department-based laboratories where necessary practical experiences for scientific education are provided. The campus also has trending Information Technology infrastructure to keep every student informed on current technology possessed. A clinic with first aid and treatment is necessary to pay attention to the students’ health issue, and a hall for meetings, events, and seminars is an auditorium. The college canteen is a place where students and members of the staff can have a break, as well as eat a snack. Also, it maintains an alumni association and students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities such as; NSS and NCC activities.

This college has a total of 6 under graduate programmes and all are having full time programmes of study. The course offerings span across two main streams: BS and BA; BSc and BA; BSc and BA. These are; Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry; Mathematics, Chemistry and computer Science; Botany, Zoology and Chemistry. In the Arts stream, the college offers a general BA programme and four-year specialised BA programmes in Economics, History and Political Science, and BA programme in Telugu medium. These various options are meant to allow students to satisfy their various academic passions or their desired professions. Though the total number of seats to be offered under each programme has not been defined, the admitted strength of the college is 231 and all these 257 students are from Telangana state only.
