Swami Vivekananda Degree and PG College, Mahabubnagar: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Swami Vivekananda Degree and PG College, Mahabubnagar, which offer education in Telangana, India were established in 2002 as affiliated college. Located close to the Government Civil Hospital this has expanded itself into one of the significant education providers in the region. The college occupies an area of 8.89 acres, which makes it comfortable for learning to take place. A total of 1, 658 students have been enrolled in this college for different courses while the faculty members are 36 m making the student-teacher ratio to be very reasonable hence improves student learning. Currently, the institution has 5 degree programmes and 14 courses that meet student’s needs in terms of field of study and career goals.

As it has been established, Swami Vivekananda Degree and PG College boasts in its quality infrastructure that facilitates learning for students. There is also air conditioned computer science lab facility in the premises with all the software necessary for the students’ practice. The college library as an essential element of the college has a collection of texts, reference books, periodicals and journals in different disciplines. For scientific purposes, there are laboratories for Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Botany, Zoology and Chemistry, which are used for demonstration and practicals. It also has community hall and a large hall for the use of more than 500 students which has been christened as Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Auditorium. This place is widely used for seminars, extension lectures and other academic activities, which often include dignitaries from universities and other recognised institution.

The Swami Vivekananda Degree and PG College provides a complete list of Bachelors and Masters degree courses. The college offers 14 full-time courses for the students in Science, Commerce and Arts stream. Some of the courses that a student can gain a B.Sc in include; Biotechnology, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science at the undergraduate level. The college also has B.Com, B.Com (Computers), BBA and BA courses for students. For Post Graduate level studies the institution offers M.Sc specialisations in Organic Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Most important, the college provides a B.Sc degree in Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry in English and Telugu media for those students more inclined to regional language.

The Admission procedures in the institution of Swami Vivekananda Degree and PG College is easy to understand for the students. For undergraduate programmes, the student’s performance in the entrance examination and /or the 10+2 or similar examination is considered. The college may also consider entrance examination administered by the state or the university for some courses. For post graduate courses mainly in M.Sc Botany and M.Sc Zoology, admissions are taken through PGCET, which is Post Graduate Common Entrance Test.
