Tamil Nadu College of Engineering Coimbatore, now popularly known as TNCE, was incepted in 1984. This affiliated college is situated in Karumathampatti in Coimbatore, and it occupies a total area of land of about 55 acres. TNCE is accredited with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and they teach 13 different courses from four different degree levels. The total number of student enrolments is 615, and it is affiliated with a member of the teaching staff of 71. TNCE has a diverse course offering in engineering, technology, and management that addresses the dynamic demand of the industry and educational sectors.
In students’ affairs, Tamil Nadu College of Engineering works for creating a suitable learning environment with necessary facilities. TNCE has hostel facilities for boys and girls that are fully furnished and possess all modern facilities, including Wi-Fi. The boys’ hostel has a capacity of 690 students, while that of the girls' hostel is 650 students. The campus includes a library stocked with more than 70,500 books and 28,000 titles as an integral source of information for campus users.

Tamilnadu College of Engineering, Coimbatore, is one of the eminent institutions offering courses in engineering, technology, and management. It has a smooth and straightforward admission process for selecting deserving candidates within its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The institution is affiliated with Anna University and has the backing of the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) for maintaining the required level of education.
Admissions to TNCE start around January to February of any particular year and usually close before the onset of the academic year around August-September. The various means of application depend on the entrance examinations instituted by the institute from time to time for particular academic programs. Engineering undergraduate programs (BE/B.Tech) conduct TNEA counselling for admission. ME admissions are conducted based on common engineering entrance for PG (CEETA-PG) and MBA admissions through Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).
To be eligible for undergraduate programs, a candidate must have completed the 10+2 compulsory with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics; otherwise, he/she won't be eligible. Different programs have different eligibility criteria, but generally, a combined aggregate of a minimum of 50% to 55% in the qualifying examination will be always expected. Admission is generally offered to candidates holding the bachelor's degree from an approved university, whose eligibility cutoff is not less than 50%-55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Application Process
The registration for admission into Tamilnadu College of Engineering, Coimbatore, varies from program to program:
For B.E./B.Tech programs:
1. Get yourself registered at the official website of TNEA for TNEA counseling.
2. Fill up the online application form and pay the associated fees.
3. Upload all necessary documents that include the mark sheets of the 10th and 12th standards, community certificate (if applicable), and all other certificates required as per the form.
4. Attend TNEA counseling and choose TNCE along with all their preferred courses.
5. Report to TNCE for verification of documents and payment of fees after being allotted a seat.
For M.E. programs:
1. Complete the application for CEETA-PG on the official site from January 24, 2025, to February 21, 2025.
2. Show up for the CEETA-PG exam.
3. Be a qualified candidate to attend counseling sessions.
4. Attend the admission formalities in the college if enrolled at TNCE.
For the MBA program:
1. Register for TANCET on the official site and apply between January 24, 2025, and February 21, 2025.
2. Show up for TANCET.
3. Turn up for counseling if qualified.
4. If shortlisted by TNCE, take part in any subsequent selection processes.
5. If offered a spot, carry out the admission procedure.
Degree-wise Admission Process
B.E./B.Tech: There are eight B.E. programs and two B.Tech programs at TNCE, overall intake being 420 seats. Admission is allotted based upon the TNEA counselling process on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination (10+2) and TNEA rank. Some available courses are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Automobile Engineering followed by Artificial Intelligence & Data Science.
M.E.: The college offers two M.E. programs: Structural Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. The total intake stands at 27 seats. Admission will be done through CEETA-PG followed by counseling. Candidates should have a relevant B.E/B. Tech degree and qualify in the CEETA-PG examination.
MBA: It is around 30 for the TNCE MBA program. The admission criteria of the Tamilnadu College of Engineering will involve counseling based on TANCET performance. To be eligible, interested candidates must have obtained a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories).
