Tara Government Degree and PG College, Medak was established in 1977 in the Sangareddy of Medak district of Telangana as an autonomous college. Located on a 22 acre campus, the college provides a choice of 34 courses in seven degree programmes. It has a total number of 3,412 students and 56 members of faculties which gives proportionate ratio of student to teacher. NAAC accredited it which proves that quality education is provided by the institute. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate education with 82% of students taking undergraduate programme and 18% taking postgraduate programme.

They include computer, science, art, drama, music, language, library, business, physical education, and technology. These are a fitness centre for body building and exercise, a library for books, and other facilities that encompass different games for students. Undergraduate courses offered at the institution are from the faculties of Arts, Commerce & Sciences and the post graduate courses are English, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Commerce, Telugu, Economics, Physics, Mathematics and Political Science. The college approved off intakes are 3, 011 for all courses that are offered in the college. Some of these programmes are B.Com Computer Applications were 480 intakes, B.Sc Physical Science with 360 intakes and B.Sc Life Science with 300 intakes respectively.
