Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women, Kilakarai, a pioneer women’s college in Ramanathapuram District of Tamil Nadu, was started in the year 1988. This affiliated college with total area of 11.09 acres of land is especially committed towards the education of women. NAAC accredited and AICTE approved college offers a wide range of thirty two courses in twelve degree programmes. The institute has 1,648 number of students and 93 faculty members. The number of student per faculty in this institute is ideal. The college only admits females and has a total enrolment of 100 percent with 90% of the students taking undergraduate programmes while the remaining 10 percent taking postgraduate studies.

Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women offers all the necessary amenities for students to get an appreciable learning environment. The hostel facility on the campus provides 400 students adequately spacious, ventilated rooms and hygienically prepared well-balanced diets. The library was started in 1988 and today there are more than 29000 books and 212 periodicals backed by modern amenities and Wi-Fi facility. The additional amenities are  health centre, sports complex, an avenue, theatre, a gymnasium, and a cafeteria. The college has also had an impressive standard in putting up Information Technology, laboratories and Transport for the students’ comforts

Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women provides ample programmes of study in the field of Arts, Sciences and Commerce. The institute has 32 courses offered, of which some are under graduate, post graduate and even doctorate. Full time programmes of undergraduate level are available in Commerce, Home Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Microbiology, Psychology and other specialties. The total student enrolment for all programmes offered is 1,521 and a number of these students graduate annually. The college also provides M.Phil and Ph.D. in few chosen fields of study. The courses are MCA, M.Com, B.Sc Information Technology, B.Com, BCA, PhD Home Science, MA English, and so on. 

Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women focuses on the merit factor while admission as it accepts all students. Though there are no specified dates for admission, a college is expected to follow the session calendar of the university of affiliation. Like for most of the institutes, it is possible to apply for different courses at the institute at any one time since the admissions for each course are generally opened before the start of each session. For postgraduate and research programmes, the entrance test or interview is also required. The college extends scholarships for all qualified students.
