The Kavery College of Education for Women, Salem was inaugurated in the year 2006 is one of the pioneer institution for the women to harness their talents in the field of education. This women only college is situated in Mecheri, Salem, Tamil Nadu and is an affiliated college recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). It occupies a sprawling 5.04 acre land with compelling environment that is appropriate for learning. At present, it has 41 students and 12 faculties and to make sure that the students receive individual attention and quality education. Kavery College of Education for Women has two postgraduate programmes exclusive to education, hence offers specialized teacher training.
As I will show presently, the college has a host of modem facilities, which are instrumental in improving the learning environment of the students. Every established academic calendar would consist of qualified and experienced teaching staff, a well-equipped and adequately staffed Central Library, major national and international periodicals and project reports. The college has a very large auditorium, which is used in conducting of all occasions and seminars to ensure productivity in the institution.
The Kavery College of Education for Women offers two full-time courses: In TE D.El Ed, B.Ed & M.Ed are Bachelor of Education and Master of Education respectively. The B.Ed program offers an intakes of hundred seats, on the other hand the M.Ed program has intakes of fifty seats. Both programs take two years and offer education theory and practice as an institutional foundation. Focusing these two core programs of the college it is possible to pay more attention to the teacher education while graduating students who will later shape young people.
The Kavery College of Education for Women follows an open admission policy which is precisely in line with the norms evolved by the state government, UT administration and the university to which the college is affiliated to. The course of admission on the B.Ed program is given by the marks of the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The M.Ed program takes into account the performance of the applicants’ first-degree results. As for the particular dates of examinations, they are not given, however, the future student needs to monitor the college’s website or call to the admission office to be informed about the dates of the exams as well as the dates of the application.
