Salem Polytechnic College was established in 1984 It is a first-grade technical institution located at Salem, Tamil Nadu. This affiliated college is located at a vast piece of land measuring 10.65 acres, The institution has been fashioning the bright future of aspiring engineers for almost four decades. Favoured by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), attested, the college offers various types of diploma programmes to fulfil the engineering disciplines. The Salem Polytechnic College has a total of 557 students and 65 faculty members for the coming generation technicians and engineers.

The college owns sophisticated facilities for the improvement of the learning process of the learners. A spacious and well-stocked library with a total stock of over twelve thousand books and journals is provided for informational needs of students; a fully equipped computer lab with the latest 225 computers is available for exposing students to modern technological aspects. Additional facilities also presented on the campus are a specialised laboratory and the CAD/CAM Centre, where students can gain hands-on experience. 

For all-round development, the college has excellent sporting facilities for indoor and outdoor sports accompanied by proficient trainers. The boys ‘hostel can house 201 students in 67 large rooms The boys ‘hostel has a separate library and serves hygienic vegetarian food to its inmates. There is also a facility for girls’ hostels, and this eliminates all forms of discrimination that may be evident in favour of some students.

Salem Polytechnic College currently has offered 8 diploma courses, which are all three-year full-time programmes. All of these programmes encompass a broad range of engineering disciplines with specialisations in mechanical, electrical, and electronics, instrumentation & control, electronics & communication, computer, civil, and architectural assistantship engineering. The college offers an overall sanctioned intake capacity of 330 students across these courses, which clearly depicts its educational interest in providing quality technical education in various disciplines.
