Tippu Sulthan First Grade College, situated in Ullal, was started in the year 1994 and is a First Grade College affiliated with the Mangalore University, Mangalore, Karnataka. This educational facility occupies merely 3.2 acres of land and provides only 3 undergraduate courses for the overall admitted students’ capacity of 155. The college has a total strength of 14 dedicated faculties and has a better student-teacher ratio with regard to its learners. The aims and objectives of the college including the quality of education provided by the college is shown by the number of courses offered and facilities available for the course.

Tippu Sulthan First Grade College has provided all the amenities and facilities required for the student’s overall development. It enjoys an enriched collection of 7000 books, 30 journals, 20 magazines, 18 newspapers and uses INFIBNET’s N-LIST facility for a digital database. For those learners interested in computing and technology two computer laboratories equipped with 36 computers each and Windows and UNIX servers are available to improve the learner's computer experience. The college also has functional physics and biology laboratories to provide students with all practical aspects of their disciplines. Apart from the classrooms and laboratories, the institution provides facilities for extra courses, food and beverages through the canteen, and a hall for sports and meetings as well as seminars.

Tippu Sulthan First Grade College offers three full-time undergraduate programmes, B.A, B.Com, and B.B.A which stands for the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Business Administration respectively. For the BA and B.Com programme, each intake is 60 students and for the BBA programme, only 40 students are admitted. All the three courses take three years to complete therefore offering students thorough knowledge in their specialised areas of study. The presence of these core disciplines in the teaching and development of the college shows the colleges intention to produce students for different humanities, commerce and managerial avenues.
