The University Department of Computer Application, TM Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur, came into existence in the year 1960 as a very prestigious constituent college in Bihar, India. This AICTE-approved institution is concerned with imparting quality education in the computer applications area. The compact area of 2.5 acres provides a congenial environment to students for focused learning. The total enrolment of students in this department is 3,328, and faculty strength is 9. The institution currently offers one postgraduate program "Master of Computer Applications" with an approved intake of 60 students per year.

The various academic pursuits of the department are duly supported by a number of modern facilities. There are three air-conditioned computer laboratories that are equipped with over 60 computers, all connected through a high-speed broadband connection. University Department of Computer Application library, the reservoir of knowledge, contains around 4,000 books pertaining to Computer Science and is regularly updated with the latest publications. Separate hostel facilities for boys and girls are available in the institution, that too, at a very nominal charge of 2,400 INR annually for a double bedroom for student welfare. The Department of Computer Application at the university level offers a three-year full-time Master of Computer Applications. This course has been so designed that it exposes students at advanced levels in the realm of computer applications, thus preparing them for the rapidly changing technological world. 

Admission to the MCA course in the University Department of Computer Applications is based on an entrance test conducted by the university. This test is aimed at assessing the aptitude and knowledge of the candidate in computer applications; only meritorious students will be admitted to this stream.
