Vaishno College of Education was established in 2005 in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh in the village Thapkour Nurpur tehsil. This school for both males and females is recognised under the National Council for Teacher Education Act (NCTEA) and provides courses in education discipline. Located on a 15 acre of land, the college has and average number of 422 students and a capacity of 16 teachers. At Vaishno College of Education, there are two courses in Education at the bachelors and masters level. The practical approach to curriculum, dispersal of resources, and teaching techniques makes the institute’s infrastructure one of the best to offer quality education.

Vaishno College of Education provides a host of amenities that are meant to facilitate learning among the college students. It is one of the major information resources to support academics comprising of over 6,500 books, 15 National journals, and other periodicals. It also has a Book Bank section to help the students throughout their examinations. The institution has modern laboratory facilities, for instance it has a language lab with appropriate recording and reproducing gadgets for language teaching. In the extra curriculum activities, the college provides the sports facilities which include the indoor games and outdoor games and also gym. The college equally arranges pick-up from the surrounding regions for the convenience of the students who use various means of transport to get to college.

The total recognition for all courses offered in the institution is 250 whereas the average size of the class is 422 students. The college offers both tuition and post tuition education courses for students who intend to pursue careering in education at the college, university or post graduate level.

Vaishno College of Education admitting students essentially through entrance tests conducted by the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. For the B.Ed programme, which is a two-year regular course, any candidate interested should first sit for an entrance test that the university conducts every year. Same the way, for the M.Ed course, which is another two year regular course, the aspirant has to appear in the entrance test conducted by the Himachal Pradesh University. These entrance tests are used selectively to identify students who need to join the college for an undergraduate degree as well as the postgraduate degree since the college wants to admit students who have the ability to learn and become good teachers. That the college is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University and functioning in conformity with norms of NCTE adds to its efforts of maintaining high standards of education in teacher training.
