Vidyasagar College of Education, Darjeeling was established in the year 2007 as a co-educational institution to mould the future generation of teachers. The affiliated college is located at Rupandighi, Phansidewa, compact on campus space of 1.07 acres. This NCTE-approved institute offers only one degree course, with a total student enrolment of 200 and the faculty strength of the college is 16. Thus, the student-to-teacher ratio is favorable and each student gets proper attention and quality education.

The facilities available in this college pertain to learning and enriching the learning experience of the students. The academic resources are located centrally in a well-stacked library which provides wide-ranging learning materials to the students. It understands the role of technology in today's education, hence, has splendid IT infrastructure which helps students keep pace with technological advancement. The sports facilities in the college help in the all-round development of students by making them physically fit and developing team spirit. A spacious auditorium has been provided for events, seminars, and guest lectures in enriching campus culture. Refreshments and meals are availed to the students through a cafeteria. Vidyasagar College of Education imparts education in teacher training alone. As such, there is only one full-time course available, viz. the B.Ed. course. It is a two-year course with an approved intake of 100 students every year, which also goes to prove that the institution believes in adhering to quality standards pertaining to education.

Admissions in Vidyasagar College of Education are solely based on merit and are usually organised through a counselling system. The aspiring students will have to attend the counselling, during which seats will be offered to them according to their academic merit.
